Chrysler had a few really cool concept vehicles and super clean off road rigs on display this year. A real crowd pleaser was the Jeep JK on 40” tires with no lift; feast your eyes on the “Lower 40”.

Resilient Technologies, a US military supplier has taken on the challenge of developing a fascinating, combat and roadside bomb resistant tire. While the exact details of the military requirements and Resilient Technologies tire design were kept from the civilian 4x4Review team we can tell you that this ingenious design, currently being finalized for the US military, is not a run flat. Rather, it is an airless design leveraging honey-comp shaped (hexagonal cells) cells to support the structure of the tire, weight of the vehicle and directional drive loads. The tire is capable of speeds up to 75 mph has been successfully tested on military Humvees, surviving large-caliber shots without slowing the vehicles progress. Future applications include all-terrain vehicles.
