Does any one know if there will be problems with converting my 2001 4Runner - with Stock 225/75/R15 (+/-28.3" dia) -to- 265/70/R15 (+/-29.6" dia)?

The spedometer should only be off by about 4% with this change but...Does anyone know how to recalibrate the speedometer? I was told its not just a speedo gear replacement.

Is there any suspension differences (height, stiffness, etc.) between 2001 4Runners that come stock with 225/75/R15 and those that come stock with 265/70/R16 tires?

I've done nearly the same tire change...went from 225/75 R15's to 265/75 R16's...the speedomter reads about 11% lower than actual. I did a bunch of research to see if I could bring the speedomter back to spec but found out there are about six speed sensors on these rigs. At least two on the transmission and one on each wheel. Superlift makes a little black box that works on some vehicles but not on ours. I believe the signal for the speedometer originates from the wheel sensors as I have also changed differential gearing without any change in speedomter reading! Good Luck! Besides, less speed on the speedometer equals less miles on the odometer for resale! ;-) ------------ Keith at 2/12/2002 8:29:37 PM
