I am about to purchase a '02 tacoma with the TRD package. I am having trouble deciding between the automatic (limited) and the standard(SR5)transmission. I have another car that is stick which i love to drive. I was thinking for road trips and off-roading, it might be nice to have an auto. I am really torn.I would love any advise from owners of either and/or avid off-roaders on what to do. Thanks

I have an '01 Tacoma ext. cab 4x4 V-6 5-spd. and while the auto runs just fine with the 6-cyl. the 4-cyl. is very sluggish in an auto. Test drive both of them, I love my 5-spd. It shifts very smoothly, but it's not a sports car type of transmission, if that's what you're looking for, although it all comes down to personal preference. ------------ James Reavis at 9/26/2002 6:50:59 PM
