Rebel, I have a 74 TLC FJ-40. (It`s the one that you can see in the upper left hand corner of the web site!) The most common 1 ton axles are are the Dana 70 and Corporate 12 bolt(GM) axles. I`m sure Ford makes one, but I can`t think of it off hand. Your best bet would be a Dana 60 (Heavy 3/4 ton) and to cut the axles down about 2 inches on each side, unless you want the axles to stick out really far. The Dana 60 is a good choice because you can get lot`s o` goodies for it like lockers, stonger axle shafts, ring/pinion gears, etc. Any reason why you want a full one ton axle? Mud racing? If you must use a one ton, I suggest the Dana 70, it`s bomb-proof! I hope that helps. Rick

Hey- Sounds to me like you own a landcruiser. Torch off your spring hangers and perches and work up a link set-up. That`s probably about the easiest way to fix it. Locating your springs inboard on your axle a little further works too, but it isn`t really all that simple either. With a cruiser you really don`t have a whole bucket of options. I sprung mine over with stock springs and it ramped over a 1000 on a 20 degree ramp forwards and backwards. My tires hit the wheel wells, so without going wider I wasn`t gettin` any more flex. So--I`m goin` wider. You just about have to go spring over or go with like an Old Man Emu lift or something with maybe a little lower springrate. National Spring could whip something up for you that would probably work a whole lot better, but they don`t work for free either. Even with different springs though, cruiser rear ends generally just don`t work all that hot from what I`ve seen. Anyway---soups on, gotta go.

Call this place: The 4xStore 615-791-1247

The are selling a folding rear shackle for LC`s that I have seen in action. A set for the rear is about $130, and just replaces your existing rear shackles. This would be the easiest way for you to increase your rear travel.

Good luck finding that :) Everything will break, but I was very happy with the ProComp Stage I kit I had on my 90 truck. you have a different rear suspension, but they have one for your anyway. You could also look into the Stage II kit, or the Superlift kit - they are all basically the same 4" lift. Stay away from the Rancho 3" lift - not enough height and poor design IMHO.

I also need a good lift kit that can > lift my truck at least 7 more inches...

There is no 7" suspension lift availible for your truck. The best you can do is a 4" suspension lift (mentioned above) and a 3" body lift to get that height. That will let you run 35" tires and do good off-road.

IT COULD BE THE THROWOUT BEARING. BUT IF YOU FEEL A SHAKE OR WOBBLE IT MIGHT BE THE U-JOINTS

A body lift does not change the suspension - you can easily use the recommended stock replacement shocks. If you are looking for more suspension travel in the rear, it is best to fully articulate the rear axle and measure to figure out what shocks you need there. But like I said - just ask for the Rancho RS5000 shocks recommended for a stock 87 Toy if you don`t feel like measuring.

------------ IFS lifts are not cheap. To put together a true, full, everything together,holy-mackeral,gee-whiz 3"--4" lift, u r looking about $1200.00 good 'ole american dollars. UNLESS--- u r one hella'va fabricator, engineer, braided steel brake hose maker. I know , I done my homework. check out a company called JACK-IT ,out of utah. Look at their premium series....if not , get a downey catalog & get rear shackles and twist the torsion bars, they do work! or buy the 26mm torsion bars from downey if u feel u r going to screw your truck up....

The 03 V6's make the tick and flutter noises also, so I guess it's normal if drunk on Saki.
