This weekend we went to the Smokey mountains. We took the 2003 Toyota 4 runner 4 wheel drive V6 up a steep incline. It smelled like the transmission was burning up. It had a strong odor of transmision fluid. Does anyone know the deal on this. This truck has been a piece of sh**t. Help

I don't know what the problem is but I have had the same problem with my 97 4runner when towing up hill. It seems to happen when I am out of overdrive even when not towing.
