| Since it is a L50 5 speed that means you either have a 1981 or 1982 truck since those are the only years they came with that transmission. your best bet is to get a remanufactured one. if you were to have somebody rebuild it it would be costly. i recently had to put a transmission in my 87 toyota. i got it out of a junkyard and all i did was change the fluids in it and it works fine. but ssince your transmission only was produced for two years you might have trouble finding one. since you are in california if you were to find one in a junkyard it might still be in good shape. as to rebuilding it yourself i would say it can be done and you probaly can do it with a shop manual if you fall every step by the book but it is going to be hard and the parts might cost you a little money. |
