| I had just bought a 87 four runner 2dr, 4cyl auto, 4x4, with 280,000 kms. I was wondering if anyone could offer any tips or suggestions about anything to do with them. Thanks for your help |

Just bought a sweet '87 after spending 9 years in an '85. The '85 has 219,000 on it, and has let me down only once....a broken wire loom let the wire fall into the cavity above the exhaust manifold, and melted it. I cut 6" of excess speaker wire from behind the console, and was on the road in less than 10 minutes, fixing it properly upon returning home. Absolutely the best vehicle on the planet! To answer your question, the best thing you can do for an early 4-runner is change the oil and filter every 2,000 to 2500 miles, and ALWAYS use factory Toyota oil filter. Have fun! |
