What type of information are you looking for? A good resource is: http://www.tlca.org/web/ - Toyota Land Cruiser Association Rick |

Hey thanks for you quick reply and thank you for all your help you have givin me in the past. Well I have been thinking about instead of putting all this money in my s10 blazer I might go ahead and buy a land cruiser and I was just looking for the basic info about them what to look for in a used one what years are better than the others. I read somewhere that they come with a locker front and rear is this true? I really like the 96 or 97 year. can you give me any input on them. thanks again |

You're most welcome! We're glad to help.
The 80-Series... what a GREAT rig! They came out in 1989 and it was an "all-new" vehicle, with lots of great changes. The 80-series Land Cruisers, in my humble opinion, was the finest culmination of comfort and capability. The 80-series Landcruisers are able to traverse some incredibly difficult terrain, and do so with style and comfort. I watched a guy drive straight up potato salad hill in Moab, UT in a brand new 80-series. I think I was more nervous than he was.
The front and rear locker option worked really well. In my opinion, I think you'll be far more happy with an 80-series TLC, than you would be with a Chevy S10 Blazer (and I'm a Chevy guy at heart). I just think that you'll dump a ton of cash into your Blazer and never be happy with it... it's just not a good 4x4 at all.
Anyhow, unless you buy a total turd, I don't think you'll be dissapointed with an 80-series one bit. They're very capable, comfortable rigs, and there is good aftermarket support for parts, upgrades and accessories.
Here are a few more links that might be helpful:

Be sure to shoot us some photos of your rig!!!

Hey rick just wanted to think you for all the links I got alot of info off of them. I do have a question for you did all the 1997 land cruisers come with the front and rear lockers and were the full time 4wd or was it an option. thanks again |

You're most welcome! I'm about 99% sure that the front/rear lockers in the FJ80 were an option, and not a standard. Rick |

I just bought a 94 FZJ80 today (I just let the cat out of the bag!) and it doesn't have lockers but I can always add them
I've been told by several people that in a lot of cases you don't need them because they have such an awesome wheel base. Just depends on what you're going to do.
I've already got my build up in mind |

The IH8MUD.com forum is a good one too and they have a great classified and Q and A section. I learned alot from the site. My friends still can't believe that I went over to the "dark side" |
