Free flowing air filter (e.g. K&N, Airaid, etc.) and free flowing cat/back exhaust are two of the best ways to get more power, and increase fuel mileage.

I agree with Webby that modifications such as free flow intake and exhaust are two of the best modifications you can do for increased power and fuel mileage but you don't want to forget the basics either.
Make sure that your tire pressure is good and that your vehicle is tuned up.
with a 16 year old truck you want to make sure that you have good plugs installed and that your air filter is clean. If you have never done it then you may want to install new plug wires too.
Tire pressures are critical. Low tire pressure can cost you 1-5 MPG.
A tonneau cover can help you out as well if you do a lot of highway driving.
I know that no one wants to hear this but the best thing you can do for fuel mileage is to keep your foot out of the throttle. When you are beebopping back and forth to work having a heavy foot can cost you big time. Save your heavy foot for when you are off road. |
