What does everyone think of the new H3?
http://www.4x4review.com/vehicles/chevy/2006-Hummer-H3.asp
Sure seems like a big departure from the H1 and H2 to me.

Yeah... while the jury is still out (in my mind), I'm not sure that I like it all that much.
The H1 and H2 were very different vehicles and in my mind, that's what set them apart from the crowd and gave them their "special something". The new H3 seems to be like every other SUV on the planet. Nothing setting it apart.

Yea it does look like every other SUV. This vehicle was originally designed for war now it looks like something a soccer mom would drive.

If it's not GM, I don't want it. |

Ohhhhh, so thaaaaats what they call a "four by" nowadays! Gosh, I am 21 and have to think about the good old days when a real four by was made out of, whatchama call it.....oh yea, STEEL!!!!!! A phrase that is synonomous with four wheelin, STEEL IS REAL. Other than maybe my boots, wheen was leather considered even remotely part of a four by??? OnStar, isn't that called a tool box, a HiJack, and (dare I say it)a full size spare. Electronics....oh yea my CB radio!! And you are tellin me that automatic hubs are actually better than Warn hubs???? You might as well run me over...oh wait your traction control wouldn't allow that, sorry I forgot. Advise for the day...Get a real four by.

I guess I didn't need to give so much attitude, but honestly, it really does look like it should be the all new Cherokee. Or better yet is GM and Diamler/Chrysler doing a stint together? Think about it Commander vs. H3??? Would make for an intresting comparison.

Did you read the Commander review that they just posted? One of 4x4REVIEW's Editors got a chance to test drive this unit in Penn. Very interesting... See the article on the home page.

To me it just reaffirms how Detriot does not give a darn about vehical efficency, only profit. The last thing with need is yet another SUV with 4x4 that will spend 99.9% of its time in 2wd and on paved surfaces with most drivers of it that will dump a more economical car for it bt then maybe it will flop after people get a taste of $3/gallon fuel. Hey, I have owned 4x4's for over 30 years but they are not my first choice for daily commuting.

As much as I may not like the newer 4x's, I do have to say that people are going to drive whatever makes em happy. That's our freedom, go for it. Even if it doesn't make sense to do so. I will drive my old Chevy for ever (unless I get a different one, which seems to be my trend lately). This is because I know that my truck is bullet proof. So when that new Escalade cuts me off and I am slow on the brakes, I know who will come out on top. Ever since I could remember the sound of an open throttle V8 and smell of gasoline has made me go crazy. Why would I give that up. I just as soon pay 3+ for gas. And guess what, I can and will. Nontheless it is hard to not admit the technological advances in both the H3 and Commander as pretty great. I remember the first time I rode in a an old flatfender. Big difference.
