| I am a newbie with at this so I need some advice. I have a '01 Sierra ExtCab 2WD SLE that I want to put a 3-inch lift on. I also want to get the largest tires that will fit comfortably and look good. As for tires, I want the BFG ATs, but not sure about the size. As for the lift, does anyone have any recommendations? Also, can I use the factory alloy wheels with larger tires or is there a backspacing issue? Also, since it is a 2WD, is a suspension lift worth it, or should I go with a body lift? I have heard of some issues with Body Lifts and Overheating on the 99-> GM trucks. Thanks in advanced. aczerlinsky@yahoo.com |

My advise is if your going to go through all that work to lift it, go six inches. You'll be able to fit 33's, but you'll have to buy new rims. A 3" body lift and a 6" suspension take about the same amount of time to install, and be prepared lifting a truck is not for the weak at heart. Be prepared to cut, gind, and drill if need be. Good luck

body lifts aren't that hard to put on and they are relivively cheap. you could also check into a block/shackle lift in the back and a spindle lift in the front. those are relitively cheap also. i'm not sure if a suspension lift is your answer, they can get expensive. you can get 8 in wide rims fairly cheap as well, i wouldn't put 33's on stock rims, the handling may suffer greatly. and also i wouldn't go with the BFG at's if i were you. it all depends on what you want to do, but i've heard that besides sand they aren't very good for anything and have very low lateral traction. i just bought some 33 inch goodyear wrangler mt/r's and although pricey i think they're much more worth it.
