I'm having a problem with my "tri-zone" a/c system in my 2004 Chevy Suburban Z71.  The a/c alway blows cold form the rear a/c unit and the passenger side front seat unit.  However, I have a problem with the 2 vents on the driver's side.  The drivers vents usually blow cold but once in a while they suddenly blow hot (ie from the heater) air for a few seonds and then return to normal.  This usually occurs after getting off a highway and switching to driving at lower speeds.  Sometimes, if I rev the engine, the drivers vents switch to cold.  If I turn the whole a/c system off and then back on, it blows cold.  NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THE PASSENGER AND REAR VENTS ALWAYS WORK PROPERLY.

Any ideas?  I've had the system checked out and it's fully charged.  I'M THINKING THAT IT'S A PROBLEM WITH THE "AIR-BLEND" DOOR.  How is the system set up?  Are there 3 separate "air-blend" doors..one for front driver, one for front passenger, one for rear system?  I've found the actuator motor location for the blend door but it seems impossible to reach without tearing the dash apart.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yup, it's the blending door. Mine just went out on my '05 Silverado too. The driver's side would sometimes blow cold, and sometimes it would be full hot too. You'll need to replace the blend motor or have someone do it yourself.

Be prepared for sticker shock though... it will set you back a few hundred bucks. :(

Well I replaced the actuator (p/n 89018374) and the temp sensor (p/n 12160947) with genuine GM parts from www.gmpartsdirect.com but the problem still continues.  Did I change the wrong parts?

No, you didn't change the wrong parts. At this point, the only thing it could probably be is the control unit itself. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.
