What does it mean when I shift the truck into 4 wheel, it drives fine, but when I'm going slow around a turn, it feels like the front wheels are locking up and dragging.  I have to actually give it more gas to push the truck through the turn?  I very seldom use 4 wheel and when I shift it out of 4 wheel when I'm parked, I'll actually feel and hear the 4 wheel disengage, like a hard clunk, when the front drive shaft disengages.

What you're feeling is completely normal - this means your 4-wheel drive is engaging. Take note though, you shouldn't use 4-wheel drive when you're on hardpack, concrete or asphalt, and making hard turns. It's hard on the components.

The clunking you're feeling / hearing is also normal. However, you shouldn't be in park when you shift in and out of 4-wheel drive. You should be in neutral (if you're standing still) or driving under 30 mph. You owners manual will walk you through this too, in greater detail.
