I have an 87 chevy with tbi and dual tanks electric pumps in each tank. My passenger side tank doesnt work. i dont know why but i always use the drivers side. a few months ago i notices fuel spilling from the fill tube on the passenger side like it was over full. it did it even when the truck was off for a few minutes. it did that every once in a while but now the past three days it has been leaking every day. keep in mind that that tank does not work and is never used. what the heck??? thanks |

Ahhh... the dilemmas of having dual tanks... There is a valve that diverts fuel from the return line back to the active tank. You see, your engine doesn't use all of the fuel that the fuel pump sends to it, it only uses a small portion of it. The rest of the unused fuel is recirculated back to the tank that it is being drawn from, via a valve. Chances are, the valve is the problem, and it's stuck on the passenger side. So, if that tank is already full and the unused fuel from the engine is being pushed over there, you'll overfill the tank. make sense? |
