Hello all! what lift i have is: 4" sus..4"body. with 38.5x16.5x15.5.(home made body lift).

I'm looking for a sus... lift to acommadate the body lift for this size tire.

would a 8" spring kit.(w/o body lift} be enough to bump up to 39.5x16.5x18's.

76'3/4 ton axel's 4:10 gear's installed. corp. 14 bolt (rear) dana 44 (front).

Thank's for you help. joe!

Don't stop for nothing!

Your current 38.5" tires should barely be clearing with 8 total inches of lift. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that if you haven't done some fenderwell trimming, that your tires are rubbing if you're at full compression and likely hitting worse if you're steering one way or the other while at suspension compression.

Changing from 4" body / 4" susp, to 8" of suspension and losing the body lift won't net you any difference that I can foresee with tire clearance, except for the oddity of a tire rubbing on the frame.

Here's the imprtant part... 4.10 gears aren't deep enough for your current tires, and they definately won't be deep enough for larger tires. You should be running roughly 5.13 gears, or maybe even deeper.

Also, your d44 front axle won't handle the stress of those big tires. A very well built D44 cn handle 37's, but only if you've upgraded nearly everything within (35 spline axles, c-moly axles, and more).

Lastly - how 'bout them brakes? You'll probably need to upgrade the brakes to be safe enough to drive it too.

Some things to consider...

Rick

YES, 8INCH IS NOT BIG ENOUGH YOU WOULD NEED TO TRIM BUMPER & FENDERS IN THE FRONT. YOU DO NEED GEARS. IF YOUR GONNA LOCK THE FRONT, PUT HYDRO STEERING

Why lift it man??? I had an 81 longbed 3/4 ton. I fit 35x15.50x15's under it...I did lose ALOT of weight though. Somethin about a Sawzall and tin snips...two friends and a few Guiness later we had that some beach tuckin those super swamper tsl/sx's. I don't really recomend this...but after I removed the bumpers it was one sick machine. Also I was running a D60 in the front (dont ask, it came on the truck...I guess I am lucky) and a corporate 14 bolt in the rear. I was however running 4:10 gearing front and rear both with welded spider gears. One thing I wish I had thought of before was wheel spacers...(dang it!) but there would have still been surgery.

BELIVE ME I HAD THE 8 BDS HE WILL END CUTTING W/ THE SAWZAW HIS FRONT FENDERS. THE 8 BDS IS A NICE SET UP. FLEX CRAZY. YOU ARE GONNA NEED SOME TYPE OF REAR AXLE RAP DEVICE FOR THE REAR. YOU ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO STUFF YOUR FRONT SUSPENSION ALL THE WAY TO THE FIRE WALL.

I SOLD IT DUE THE ADDICTION TO FLEX(ITS LIKE A DRUG) NOW W/ THE 52 & 56 SPRING CONVERSION

so like a ladder bar type traction control setup. or just go with the bds with block kit.,and replace the back(block's) with a 4 link setup??

on the current set up it did push the bottom of the front fender behind the tire in abought 1"or 2"'s.it's better not to straight'en i out. better bent then cut in my book.because after the 8"w/body lift i can straight'en it bake out.i'm going to leave the body lift on + get the 8" bds lift.

or should i just buy everything seppert??? front bds 8" spring's ,shock's, brka line ex...kit ,drage link,2 steel shim kit 4 degree.or a 2+4 degree shim kit front.4 link rear, coil spring over shock's.

STAY AWAY FROM BLOCKS. DO THE 8 INCH BDS & RUN A WISH BONE TO THE FRAM FROM THE AXLE W/ TO HEIM JOINTS & A BUSHING AT THE FRAME. SO YOU CAN STILL ARTICULATE & WILL NOT LET THE AXLE RAP. THE FRONT CUT THE FENDER & USE BUSHWACKER CUT OUTS TO CLEAN IT UP I USED MY PLASMA IT CUTS CLEAN & LIKE BUTTER

if I get the kit with block's.I'm going to replace the rear block's/spring's with a 4 link system.

instead of the rear 8" spring kit w/ladder bar's.

what about a 4 link weld on kit to get the angel for back drive shaft?

That or use a custom drive shaft with CV's on each end. (that is what I would do anyway)

man i wish i could ,but the mud hole's were we play they are running 38's up in some spot's.had 35's on it at one time ,but it's no fun going 10 feet slideing on the axel's with them 35" tire's not touching anything, but water..this is the first hole you come to.the second hole is about 50 yard's long.with 35 bogger's locked f/r you mite make it 15ft. max. before frist hole 90 degree turn hole 5 ft. from turn, second hole 10 feet from first hole.so there's no room for a running start. so when you turn the first coner put'her to the wood and keep going till you get through the second hole.trust me you wouldn't make it.after the 38's up tires tear it up your screwed with 35's here. no bull s!@@#! this on 50 acer's of private propertiy were we test are truck's 90% swamp too.

that's cool! we do a littel on a seasonal road in between 2 feild's sloppy clay in southern mi..

p.t. k5 thank's for the info man. you got my blood pumpping now.scrapping the leaf kit idea.going all out with 4 link f/r. f/r basic kit 400.00 more my speed on cash flow.steering assist going for it.or even the hydro full system. didn't read any thing on the steering assit.. yet but found the hydro system and very interrested in ,but lury about the 1 turn ratios compared to the stock 4 turn. does the assitance system come close to the full hydro system? i noticed that the hydro kit is a complete replacement steering system, and the steering assitance just run off the factoy box.is the pitman arm still connected with this setup?
