I just bought a `96 Blazer for my first truck. I was wondering about shifting from 2WD to 4WD. Can I shift to 4WD Hi at any time, even in park? Do I have to be moving to go into 4WD Lo? Would appreciate a response.

Hello and I am 19 years old. i bought a 86 jimmy from my dad. the body is ok, except for the floor near the tailgate. well i was wondering about a lift, i do not want a big lift, because it is a daily driver,I was wondering what lift would be good to fit 33's under my truck, also where could i find it for cheap, cause i am in school. 33's should fit under your jimmy if it's a fullsize with no lift! as long as they are no wider than 12.5 i personally would suggest 8 in. wide wheels 10 in. wide wheels may rub

I have an '80 Blazer with a 4" Pro Comp lift. It wasn't all that expensive, around $500 for everything including a new drop steering arm and steel braided extended brake lines. I run 33-12.50-15's on it with no sweat. I also made my own sway bar disconnects as well, which helps it flex pretty well for an inexpensive lift. If you just do a bit of recreational off roading, then you're better off using lift blocks in the rear like I did because the factory springs on these trucks are nice and flexy for a leaf spring. The setup is all fairly easy to install, I put mine on in about 3-1/2 hours with just basic tools, a floor jack, and most importantly, JACK STANDS!! Good luck with it! ------------ Eric at 4/14/2000 10:35:18 AM

10's will rub w/33's, and 8's are cutting it close. If you want any flexibility, lift it! 2 1/2" will work with minor fender trimming, but 4" works out better for usually no more money (except for the steering arm & brake lines). ------------ caddy daddy at 4/16/2000 1:36:11 PM

stock 8 inch wheels worked fine on my 85 k10 and i beat the tar out of it( as it is right now it's broke needing the engine rebuilt because i busted both the engine and tranny on my last "fun day" ) i have a 79 shortbox with 4 in. lift with 33's on 10 inch wheels and i think they look too small sorta outta porportion with the lift i would put 35's on it but i'm gonna sell it shortly ------------ mike b. at 4/19/2000 12:42:51 PM

While I do agree that 33's look just a little small, I don't think that they look out of proportion. 35's will rub the front section of the front fender under full compression(at least it looks that way to me) because the 33's on it now come within an inch of the metal. I'm just not willing to cut my fenders up because it took forever to find a Blazer as old as mine with no rust damage. Besides all that, it's not good to run tires bigger than 33's on a stock 10-bolt if you do any good 'wheeling. -Peace. ------------ caddy daddy at 4/20/2000 8:08:18 PM

the 35's would have required a body lift as i don't like 35 12.5's and even with no body lift 35 12.5's would be a real tight fit ....too tight .....i have broken a few axle shafts even with 33's i'm gonna look for heavy duty shafts for my 85...after i break the ones in it now i do believe that a spool will be better on the axles verses the eaton locker ......i also don't approve of fender trimming unless it's a beater wheeler ------------ MIKE B. at 4/21/2000 10:18:41 AM

I have a 91 K5 with a 4 inch lift and I run 33s. I feel if you lift more then 4 inch you should runs some 35s, however, you will have to change a long list of items if you go that big. I think that your best bet is going with a 4inch lift if you want to spent a little money, and do a small list of chages. Make sure you diff. is not to low, or you will have no power. Check that you dont have to have your drive shafts lenghten. Make sure to buy a brace for you frame at the stering box!! If you dont do that your frame can crack. Make sure you make your truck strong not just big, or you will spend more time under it, then in it Brett ------------ caddy daddy at 4/21/2000 3:56:44 PM
