Hey everybody, I just got a 95 2Dr Tahoe Z71. Which is a big upgrade from my 93 s-10 Blazer which had faulty breaks. So what yall think of it?? I hunt and take my truck/suv all over, ESPECIALLY IN THE MUDD!! Ive just added K&N and Flomaster with duals. Anyone have any experience with this suv. Lookin for your input.. Oh yea, can I fit 285/75/16 on my standard rims and fit without scrubbin?? Ive still got factory tires on. Thanks, Mark AKA BadZ71Boy

Congratulations, I have a 99 2door and I wouldn't trade it for anything(especially since they stopped making it). Well, at first I was going to get a 6" rancho susp. lift with 35x13.5 MT claws on 10" Alcoas as well as a generation II KN filtercharger kit, gibson exhaust, Jet chip and transmission kit, but then I decided to save all my money for a year or so and convert that dinky little 8.2 ifs axle(sorry bud, but its true) to a 1-ton dana 60 straight axle. I'm aiming to make my beast a rock-climber as well as a bogger. As far as just upgrading your tires, I would suggest a 6" Rancho susp. lift (since your Z71 is already lifted from the factory, a 4" lift might not be a true 4 inch lift.) and a 3" body lift with 35" swampers or baja claws. If that's too crazy, and believe me it is, than you can still have some serious fun with all stock components if you go ahead and install a set of 280/60R16s Super Swamper radials(32.2" tall, 9" tread,10.5 tread) on your stock rims. They are so much better than BFG MTs in the mud(b/c the MTs don't clean themselves out in the soft stuff.) At the moment I've got those on my stock Tahoe and they are the cheapest and nicest upgrade you can make to a stock vehicle such as ours. If you still want to go with 285s(33" tallx11.5) I would suggest a 2 or 3 inch body lift because they will most likely rub, especially during hardcore wheeling. This could run you about 500 installed, not including the tires which will could be about another 700 when all is said and done. You're lucky you got a 95' b/c you don't have to mess with the new autotrac system or the difficulty of installing chips and such on the newer ones. If you have any other specific questions about your tahoe just send me an email. By the way, you've got good taste in vehicles. ------------ Mark Powers at 2/12/99 6:30:50 PM

i completly disagree with what paul is saying about the Z71 offroad package including a stock lift, and by adding a lift lift to it would take away from the true lift size. i own a 96 chevy truck extra cab 1500. i have done a lot fof research on the truck and the only thing that the z71 offroad package includes is... a sticker, upgrades shocks and skid plates underneath. if you have any true facts about the Z71 offroad package and would like to prove me wrong please reply .....with a location were i can see the info. thanks and...keep wheelin...........girls love guys in bow ties..... ------------ Paul at 1/27/00 2:44:03 PM

I would go with a gibson single exit cat-back system which uses the stock outlet and a K&N gen. II filtercharger kit (about $550 if bought as a duo) This would give you great induction and free-flowing exhaust. I'm pretty sure since your tahoe is a '96 it follows obdII laws which means the electronics are a little more difficult to modify but if you give JET perf. a call they will recommend a stage 2 chip that will take advantage of your increased airflow into the engine as well as your exhaust. You could be pushing 300+ at the flywheel by the time you do these 3 upgrades. (To whoever the Z71 expert is: sorry, I may have messed up, i guess its just Bilstein shocks and skid plates and a sticker that costs 30 a piece. Pretty anticlimatic if you ask me. Once you get a 4" or 6" kit you replace the z71 eqip. with better stuff anyway. If you do a straight axle swap then you put the z71 package to shame. but if you're comparing this factory option to ford's "offf-road" package then you're in for some real kick ass. Bowties rule. rock on.) ------------ chris at 2/9/2000 8:11:11 PM
