I have a 2003 1500HD which I love, it has 32,000 miles on it and I have one issue I cannot figure out. Every once in a while I hear a clicking noise coming from behind the dash in the area which seems to be just below the radio. It does not do this all the time and when I do hear it it is mostly when I start the struck up, this might last for 10-25 seconds and not return. A few times it has happened frequently. This has not affected the drivability of the truck at all. The clicking kind of sounds like a relay cycling on and off. Before I take it to the dealer who may or may not be able to experience this I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks Royce

I have the same problem. I did take it to the dealership but they cannot locate the source of the noise.

I did find the source of the clicking but I do not yet know the cause. The clicking is the heater vent blend door lever (or cam) on the outside of the heater plenum. It kind of "quivers" when the heat control is set on just heat to the floor, you can reach up under the dash and feel it move. There also feel like a cable attached to this lever (or cam) so I am wondering it there is a electric rheostat and in a certain spot is on the dial it is pulsating...

It goes to the dealer on Monday, I'll let you know.

For now try turing the heat control to slightly one side or the other of the floor only heat (air) placement....

I hope you have better luck than I had. I'll check back to see if you had a resolution to the problem. ------------ Royce Taylor at 6/24/2004 5:28:25 AM

I drop the truck off today, I can make this happen pretty much at will and will get the Service Writer or mechanic to crawl under the dash with me so I can show them where the issue is. I'll let you know what happens after I get it back
