| I have a 2003 suburban and it shifts into 4x4 by itself. First, it started by going into 4 high - mostly upon backing out of a driveway. Then, I had the transfer case fluids changed and all checked out fine. About a week later, it started doing it again - sometimes it shifts into 4 low or into neutral - the service 4x4 light comes on. Once you get it into 2 wheel drive it goes ok and you turn off the vehicle, the light doesn't come back on. Any suggestions? |

The first thing to look at (and probably the cheapest) is the shift on the fly button itself. It is possible that you have a sticky contact inside the button.
Sadly, if it isnt that then I would probably suspect a short somewhere in the circuit. |

I agree with replacing button as there has been issues with them. |

Thank you to you both. I am hoping the button is the prob. - it's covered under warranty. i dropped it off to be diagnosed in the am - I will update and let you know what happened (maybe I'll even ask for donations ;)
Thanks again - |

Good Call! It was the button - which was covered by warranty. However, because a new button was installed, the computer had to be reprogrammed to accept the button and the warranty won't cover that?!!!!!

Was that a GM warrantee or an aftermarket warantee?
If you have a GM warantee I would seriously suspect that the dealer is gouging money out of you. I cant believe that a GM warantee would allow for that.
If it is an aftermarket warantee the all bets are off. |

I agree. Did you have a aftermarket custom tune? If so they would likely charge you to restore ECM programming. (if you have a aftermarket tune, ALWAYS remove it before warranty work. |

Well for 07 in GM truck it is now "twist and pray" because they are doing away with push button. |
