I am pretty sure that the light that powers those radios is an LCD and that it is soldered on to the circuit board in which case you cant just pop out the radio, open it up and change a lightbulb.
I did a quick google and there are places you can ship the radio to and have them repaired.

I have never used them and I dont necessarily endorse them but it is an example of someone who may be able to fix your problem.

On the same topic... I wonder if the repair cost is more or less than purchasing a new head unit?
I found nice head units from Sony, Kenwood, etc. running for $80 on Crutchfield that will be direct repalcement for your current head unit. You'll have to spend the $5 or so on the pigtail adapter, but they're really easy to swap out.

BTW - nice find Mike. I didn't know companies like that existed!

Actually - I meant LCD but I SHOULD have meant LED. Nice catch.
A replacement head unit is a pretty good idea. You can often get a lot more features and a higher quality unit.
I am not a fan of replacement units though because they often look like replacements. I prefer the factory look but that is purely an aestetic preference. For that matter - you may also be able to find a factory replacement head unit on ebay for not a lot of money. I dont know if you have the top of the line head unit or not but this may be an oppurtunity to upgrade to one for not a lot of money. Just a thought. |

The problem with swapping out the head unit is that I have a Bose system with the built in 6-disc CD changer. It would probably cost a fortune. I think I'll try one of the repair sites you mentioned.
............or I'll just learn to live with the 3 unlit buttons and the chips in the paint! |

yeah, you're going to be looking at the $250 mark to get a 6-disc in-dash player at that point.
