I just installed a d60 in the front of my k5 w/ a detroit locker and I gave up serious turning radius in 4x4 is this nature of the beast? Anything to fix this? Any feedback would be helpful.

You will always loose turning radius in 4x4 regardless. But you can loose a little bit to alot in one direction after a swap. You will have to adjust the drag link. The threaded bar from the pitman arm to the steering block. If you have a lift (I assume you do), if you havent already, be sure to get both a raised steering block with studs and nuts and cylinder, and also a lowered pitman arm. You need both for 6inches and above. At 8inches you will also need an S shaped drag link. Also, bigger tires mean wider turn radius. If you have already taken all of these things into consideration and still have a REAL wide turning radius, then you may have something hanging up. Like brake lines. Can you give us more info on your setup?? Thanks.

Thanks for the responce. Im running an 8" skyjacker lift w/ the steering block and drop pitman on 42" swampers I haven't swaped out the stock straight drag link. What does the s shaped link get you?

Ok, great. I understand your settup. It is the same one I have. You need the S Shaped draglink. Right now your drag link is at an angle (if you were to remove your tire and look at your frame you could see that your drag link is going down from your pitman arm to your steering block). With it at an angle, you will loose alot of turn radius in one direction or the other. Usually turning left will be worst. Getting the stock steering equipment all straightened out is only a mediocre fix really. What you really want to do (if you are going to do some serious offroading) is to go crossover. Crossover steering is a much more natural steering settup. A link will go from your pitman arm (you will need a 2wd chevy power steering box) to the passenger side knuckle. Then you will have your tie rod from one knuckle to the other. A good source for these is Offroaddesign.com There are others, but these guys specialize in our rigs. A quick fix would be to get a Sky Jacker S Shaped draglink. Any offroad shop will know what you are talking about. Hope that helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
