| im having problems with my 4wd when i lock it in 4wd and then take it out my transfer case starts making a rattling noise down the road then stops after a day or two. then the other day i locked it into 4 high and while was driving it was making popping noises under the truck like someone was hittin the truck with a hammer then it did it in the rear end really loud like someone hit my truck with a bat but im not sure what side near the rear end what could the whole problem be? |

| Sounds like potentialy bad U-Joints. Get under your rig, and rotate the front driveshaft while it is locked in 4wd. If it moves or clunks, you probably have bad U-Joints. |

| or......it could be your hubs not fully engaging or disengaging.

| Hehehe, you lowlife, lol. Cheaperrooter is right. There is are alot of potential problems that you could be expieriencing. I was just throwing out an easy starting point. Check that driveshaft, then we can start to check things off as being an issue. If you lock up the 4x4 and the driveshaft is solid, the next easy check will be the hubs like Cheaperrooter says. |

i had the same exact problem with my s10 i would use my lock it in 4wd then when u take it out it would make a real loud rattling noise but would only do it for a few days and its doing that because when u take it out of 4wd its not fully disengaging so i replaced the 4wd actuator and the noise in the front of ur truck that makes the clunking sound is the cv axle an the noise in the back was my gears in the rear going out but thats what my problem was so maybe that will help
