| For anyone,
I have a 1989 K1500 stepside. I have read that a 31x10.5R15 is as big as you can go without a lift or fender modifications. I have had 31x10.5R15's on the truck before and it looked like there was room for improvement. Does anyone know for sure what the biggest I can go is. I currently have 245/65r16's on the truck (on Escalade wheels with a negative offset). They are supposed to be the same size as the 31's but seem even smaller.
I am contemplating a lift kit in the near future, so it is not a pressing issue (I have friends that ask me this question all the time, so I would just like to know)

31's are in fact the largest tire you can put on your truck with no lift. 32's will rub under compression and/or at full turn.
- 2" lift will net you 32" tires
- 3-4" lift will net you 33" tires
- 6" will net you 35" tires
- 9" will net you 36" tires
With a 1" body lift, you can clear the fender wells pretty well, but might have problems with rubbing when you turn to full lock and cycle the suspension.
I have known people to run 32's, but have seen them rub... so it's up to you if you don't do any off-roading and don't mind a little rub.
