Has anyone used one of the gearless lockers by tracteck that are in the product reviews. How much abuse will they take? Are they available for an IFS diff.? I know someone who used one in an s10 with a v8. He has been very pleased with the performance of it, but it is only a two wheel drive set up only for street use. (thoughts?/comments?) Dave[^]

One of our contributors did a full review on this product at: http://www.4x4review.com/products/drive_train/gearless.asp

Brenda ran it for several years with no problems. You can email her and ask her opinion as well. Her email addy is on the page listed above.

I have heard of several people report problems with the gearless lockers when they run larger tires. I've heard horror stories of the carrier grenading and the locker fragging as well.

In my humble opinion, if you want to run a drop-in locker, go with a LockRite or a TracTech EZLocker. They're stronger all around. We've reviewed both of these and I ran one of each in our Project Land Cruiser for 5 years with absolutely no problems.

EZ Locker - http://www.4x4review.com/products/drive_train/ez_locker.asp

LockRite - no review on this, but it's ultimately the same thing as the EZLocker.

And yes, they make these lockers for a variety of IFS axles as well.

It all depends on what size tire you are running?
