Does anyone know what years and in what vehicles Chevrolet used these automatic transmissions? How long have they been around?

The 4l80E is based off the older TH400 tranny which was pretty damn strong and was used in a lot of 77-89 K10's-K30's. The 4l80E, upgraded with an overdrive and electronic shifting control, has been around since '91 in 1-ton suburbans and pickups and has a 2.48 first gear like the TH400. Jet has a kit to make it even stronger. There's also a retrofit kit to install it in older trucks (wires, electronics, etc). Hope that helps. ------------ spm at 2/14/2000 11:41:22 PM
