I have a 93 chevy 1500. Last winter my 4x4 went out. The car drives and runs great. When I shift it into 4 high or low it will sound like it is trying to engage, then pop the fuse blows. Winter is coming and I can not ignore this any more.

is your 4wd the manual type or is it a knob on the dash?

You know it's going to be a good day when you get the milk to cereal ratio correct on the first bowl.

Usually with knob on the dash type (electric) of 4wd systems there is an actuator located on or near the front pumpkin which is what engages the 4x4 when switched, these are famous for going bad. So it could have a short or be bad and its trying to kick in but cant. Sometimes you can just tap on this and it will kick in kinda like when you have a bad starter and tapping on it will get it to catch. Let me know and I will try to help more. Nick
