File my first response in the "What the hell was I thinking?!?!?" folder... here's what I've found thus far.
The "Z71" badge was first offered in 1990.
The "Silverado" trim package was first offered in 1975, but really gained notoriety in 1981 when there was a major grill change. This is when they came with quadruple headlights, and the name "Silverado grill" was coined, which helped launch a new breed of trucks.
So the answer should be (if I didn't screw this one up too), 1990.
