I don't think there's any way of cleaning fuel injectors, besides using a fuel additive.

I'll ask some of my car-nut friends (they are nuts... not their nuts) [banger]

you can't clean your own fuel injectors any other way then adding the gas stuff, but you can take it to the dealership and they have a different way of cleaning them.

Some injectors require a thin layer of petroliate to lubricate their operation (regardless if they're mechanically or electrically fired) which they extract from the gasoline that they pump. Without it, the cylinder walls of the injector get scored and they start to leak past the seals, which of course, is a bad thing.

Not really advisable with the type of fuel injection as you can do more harm the good and some additives work pretty good too.

good thing to know!!! I have a 89 jimmy that needed new teflon seal's for the injecter's and thought about useing brake cleaner to clean the screen's.but i ended up just buying new screen's for then anyway.

you now if you have a jimmy or blazer of this year and your truck take's awhile longer to start(when warmed up).run it for a few minute's shut it off and pull the air cleaner and look down the T.B.and see if one of the injecter's are leaking down.if so! replace the teflon seal's problem solve. (NOTE): be very careful when you reinstalling the injecter's.it doesn't take much to cut the seal's in the T.B.
