My headlights have gone out!!!! What I have is a 1984 K5...all power (unfortunatelly). Anyhow, it all started when I hit the brights and everything went out...Well, with some fiddling with that lever, they came on. So I drove it like that for awhile...now my dillema is that they wont come on at all. Let me stress: this is not the headlight switch or wiring to it...but instead the brights lever on the column. How do I fix this situation? I suppose I will have to remove the steering wheel and the components behind it. I am not an electrician though....Anyone have any "bright" ideas????

Good point PrimeTime.

ChevyMan - you'll need to replace the stalk and stalk switch to get the hi-beams to work again, and as PrimeTime mentioned, you should replace the cam while you're in there.

I'm a little surprised as I've never seen one of the hi-beam switches go bad on the stalk before, but hey... you learn sometime new each day.

Also, if you want to go on the super-cheap, you can buy a high beam foot switch at your local parts dealer for less than $5. You'll need to route the wires to and from, or pull them directly from the fuse panel, but it might save you $50-$100. Something to chew on.

Hey thanks for the info guys, I will remember to replace the cam. And to PrimeTime's comment,I think I will more than likely do that...as soon as I fix whatever is keeping my lights from coming on at all now. It did all satart with the high/low beam lever. So once I fix that, I assume that the high/low beam switch will more than likely be fixed anyway. I hope.......
