Can anyone give me any info on the Eaton ELocker Diff I want it for a 98 chevy blazer for the front diff. is this a good type to get or do you have any suggestions thanks

According to Eaton, you front diff is not supported. Only the 9.25 inch used in 1500HD 2500HD and 3500 trucks, not your 8.25 inch axle so it is time for a plan "B' I guess

the website that i went on said that it would fit every gm truck and suv but you would need extra parts or bearings or something

The problem with the GM 8.25 IFS is two fold as far as a locker is concerned, The first is the small size of carrier limits option and the the second is that when in 2wd, the front axles disengages by disconnecting one axle shaft and letting the other side spin off in spider gears and stop drive shaft from turning which limits the usage if simple locker replacement the replace spider gears. A Eaton E-Lock would be the way to go if it was availble. Do not believe everything you read in a advertisement sometimes.

BTW, after further thought, if this is a S10 Blazer it has a even smaller 7.2 inch front diff in IFS but it works same way.

WalkingTall - would you consider a locker for the rear instead? As Snoman points out, there are a number of issues to contend with (in this thread, and in others).

That is, unless you have a specific reason for a front locker instead of a rear locker?

can i put a locker in the rear that would be fine but i wanted one in the rear and in the front can you give me an info on putting one in the rear and what would be a good choice
