What do you guys think of the different ways to achieve better pinion angle (for extreme angle differences). Would you say that sleeving is ok, cut and reweld on the axle tube, drilling out the welds and turning the tube and rewelding, or removing old tubes and putting new ones in. All of these carry different price ranges and more than likely some are better than others. What are your guys' opinions? What have you done in the past, seen done, recomend, and not recomend. I get a few questions on that every once in awhile, I usually say do what you can to stay away from having to do it. But when needed I usually say to take it down to a specialist. But I have never done it myself, and would like the overall best way. To me the best way would entail, amount of work, cost, safety, and integrity.

Drilling out welds would be the cheapest way to do it and if done properly would work well. New tubes and knuckle yokes would be the most expensive.

Hey ChevyMan - I assume you're talking about only rotating a *front* axle, and not a rear (A rear is easy - http://www.4x4review.com/tech/axle-clocking.asp)?

If so, sleaving (like you said), is a option, but if you're going to have everything dissasembled (and likely the axle out from the rig), you should probably just pull the tubes and insert new, stronger ones.

Not much gained in using stronger axle tubes with a weak housing though so what tube to use would depend on axle series/design. Too strong of tubes for housing can increase chance of housing failure because they will flex less and pass more stress to center housing. A chain is only as strong as the weakest link.
