OK so im planning on doin my 3" body lift this weekend.[:)] (coming in the mail)

my first question is will i be able to fit 33" tires after the lift... (squeezin in 31's now.)

i was thinking i could but, just wanna check and see what you guyz think.

second question: I'm looking for some nice looking all terrain tires for the truck, something aggresive, but still wont wear out TOO quickly on the road compared to other off road tires. and id like them to look decent with the truck. if i ever go off road, ill be seeing mud pits and such, not alot of climbing really. so id like to hear your opinions on what tires i should get.

heres some pics (before the lift.. of course.)

The truck is going to look great with a 3" body lift and 33's!!!

Yup, 33's will fit quite nicely with a 3" body lift. If you're changing rims, I'd suggest going with a 1" deeper offset (so that the rim sticks out 1" further), just so you can clear the framerail and steering components when turning at full lock. You don't have to do this, but you might find that it rubs on occasion.

For me - if money is tight, the venerable BFGoodrich A/T is hard to beat. They have tough sidewalls, aggressive, yet quiet traction, and you can get them just about anywhere.

If I had a few extra bucks to spend, I'd get the Bridgestone/Firestone Dueler A/T's - they're sidewall is a bit more pliable than the BFG, but far stronger. The tread will last quite a bit longer too, and the tread pattern is almost identical. I feel it's a better tire, dollar for dollar (but that's my opinion).

if your on a tight budget try going to walmart and check out the libarorter(i know that i misspelled) all terrain tires.

lots of tread and reasonabley priced. i got 31's on my truck for about 70 bucks each installed

when in doubt use duct tape

i researched and i've seen alot of people happy with the bf goodrich mud terrians... i think im gunna stick with them. and im keepin the stock rims they look alright with the truck.

and that bridgestone-firestone tire that webby suggested looks alright.

at least i know i can fit 33's =)

well im not getting the tires right away, but i will take pictures of the lift when im done and post them up, since this thread was the thread that convinced me to get the lift. thanks

If it is a daily driver I would suggest BFG AT's because the MT's can be a pain if you have icy roads in your area. I used to run the AT's for a lot of years on my burb and they performed well in snow and ice.

daily driver, i never see snow, and i very rarely see ice around where i live, but all sorts of dirt roads. for the most part i drive on pavement though.

if the tire lasts a little shorter than the rest of the tires but looks nice on the truck, ill get it, as long as its not too noisy and it rides ok. im not real picky on the ride of the vehicle, but i dont want to buy some really cheap tires either. be nice if there was a bad a$$ off road tire that performs well on the pavement as well =P

The BFG AT will provide better tread life and is quieter too.

it doesnt look like it makes much of a difference in this picture but 3 inches does make your truck sit higher...

allright im done! one question would i have to adjust the transfer case if i have electronic shift 4wd? direstions were'nt very clear to me because one part says it doesnt if its electronic shift and another part says it needs to be adjusted. now of course, i already tested 4wd and all the gears in 2wd... work fine. does it need to be adjusted?

If you have electric shift for your t-case, then the only thing you need to worry about it the length of the wire leading to your transfercase. There is no manual linkage, therefore it does not need to be adjusted.

thanks for helpin me out. this forums great. i wouldof never done the lift if i hadn't got the info from you all. glad i done the lift.

i gotta get gap guards and i gotta paint the frame under the body black...

wish i still had about 2 more inches of lift though, you would really be able to see that distance between the tire and the fender.[)]

bed bolts are in a somewhat hard to reach area but not really that bad (just gotta be careful or you'll bust you knuckles up) front bumper is time comsuming but its easy... radiator fan shroud was kinda a pain in the ass for me because the bolts to connect the upper and lower shroud are in hard to reach places (but i loved their solution for droping the lower fan shroud.). and directions said to remove the fuel filler tube from gas tank but that was kinda in a hard to reach place, so i raised that side of the truck when i was lifting the bed and did all the work on it under the truck. (fuel filler tube needed to be extended.) ehh.. directions said that you need to remove interior seat and pull up carpet to break a transmission clip, i just lifted the cab and pulled the cable from under the truck and the clip broke right off... (cable exposed after lifting body, so you can take that short cut.)

the lift was a piece of cake, truck still rides smooth,i feel like im in a much bigger truck when im drivin.

i did all my work with hand tools. (didnt have my air tools that weekend =( ) 10 hour lift 4 me a pro might do it 6-8 hours 6 with air tools
