Luis - Welcome to the boards!

Cranking up your torsion bars like that is a NOT good. You're going to destroy your ball joints, and you're going to destroy your tires in short order. 1" to 1.5" of lift is about all you can safely get out of a torsion bar adjustment.

As far as stacking blocks goes, that's incredibly dangerous. The torsional load put on blocks in measured in tons of force. Stacking block will certainly fail in short order and certainly cause a catastrophic failure. 4" is about the safest you can go with a block (I err on the side of 2-3", but some manufacturers will go as high as 4"). After that, the fulcrum effect on the rear axle is too great, unless you run ladder/traction bars. You really need to consider putting springs in the rear, not blocks, especially at that height.

I'm sorry if this seems harsh or brash, but I just don't want to see anyone get hurt.

Regards, Rick

You're most welcome, Luis! Something you might consider is getting a set of rear springs for your truck. They're not that expensive. If you're on a really tight budget, you can get your stock springs re-arched to the appropriate new height for cheap. The ride will be stiffer, but it's certainly a cheap, safe way to go.

What size tires are you running now?

Your original tires were roughly 30.5" in diameter. I'm assuming that your current gears are 4.11:1. Going to a 37" tire, if you want to get back to stock, then you would need a set of 4.98:1 gears.

Obviously, nobody makes 4.98:1 gears, so your best bet is a set of 5.12:1 gears.

If you had the 265/75 R16 tires originally, with 4.11 gears, then you could get away with a set of 4.88:1 gears.

If you do ANY hauling or towing at all, definately drop down to the 5.12:1 gears - you won't regret it, and your truck will have a renewed sense of power.

On another topic, I would caution you to be careful with your front axle. The IFS front axle typically can't handle more than 35" tires on road and 37's are really pushing the limits of those CV Joints. You should be fine if you don't do much 4-wheeling (certainly nothing more than a simple trail ride). But, if you do any mudding, rock crawling or sand-dune runs, you could expect to blow a CV joint or two.

Post a picture or two of your rig, we'd love to see it.
