Walkingtall - it's not any different than changing the fluid in the older tranny's (errr.. transmissions, not cross-dressing freaks from San Francisco) that you used to work on.

You'll need to remove the skidplate that covers that transmission pan so that you can get access to all of the bolts and have enough room to fenagel the trans pan off. I think the skid plate may be part of the transmission support / crossmember on that rig, so be sure to put a jackstand under the transfer case to support everything.

From there, it's as easy as loosening all of the bolts on the pan (unless you're one of a luck few that has a drain plug on the trans pan), cracking the gasket loose, then loosening up a few more bolts in one corner of the pan. tip the pan down and drain as much as you can into a bucket.

The trans filter is likely just a small black plastic outlined element with a clear plastic screen or a white gauze filter that is held on by a single standard screw.

It's time-consuming, dirty and messy, but it's an easy job to do.
