Well, this newfound (to me) lag in acceleration I am getting with the 6.0 6 speed auto (2007 GMC 2500HD 4x4) is something that lots and lots of people are complaining about. I didn't sweat it, thinking I could get an aftermarket perfomance chip. It would seem that no chip is offered yet, as Hypertech and Edge only have one for the 6.6 diesel, stating concerns about stress on the gasoline engine. As I research this truck and it's engine, and the more complaints I find about it hesitating (its designed like that for fuel economy) its discouraging.

Why ANYONE would design a 6.0 work truck 2500 Heavy Duty to LAG in performance is beyond my imagination. What a world we live in. There should be a built in bypass for 4 wheeling or towing and climbing. Called the dealer and they have a new program, but was told it really does absolutely nothing for the perfomance aspect.

She said last week a guy who bought a new 2008 said he was afraid to pull out in front of someone for fear of getting rear ended because it takes soooo long to kick in and go.

Thank the "greeies" for that one. New emission standards for light trucks is to blame there. If you dont need to IM your rig every year or other year, there is hope though. You will have to do some real work to the motor! lol, but really? No one makes a programer for your rig?? I find that real odd.

Yeah, but I didn't check the crappy ones. Wanted top notch or nothing at all. Don't want to take a chance of some crappy unit sending my trucks puter haywire crazy. You were "away" for a while Chevyman, so I don't know if you went back and read old posts, but if you didn't, take a look at "topic related info 4 sec delay".

That is the 4 sec delay, or hesitation I am talking about. It's VERY interesting reading I downloaded from the GM site. Basically, if you give it any kind of gas pedal, I mean anything over 1/4, it gradually increases power to conserve on gas, with no real kick in that you normally feel. More or less, to put it in real terms, it takes this 6.0 and reduces it to about a 6 cyls worth of power. Great on gas though...... In the long run, 24/7, I'll appreciate it. But when I need power...I'll be cussing.

I hear ya man. That sounds like it bites. But you do get the good gas milage at least....lol. Some one will come out with a programer for it soon. Unless, some fed law prohibits it now...lol. I am tellin you, its gonna get crazy. No more choice, it will all be choosen for us. Kinda sucks.

Just a curious thought, what happens when you load up the torque converter, power brake a bit, and then nail it? If you increase the RPM and then let off the brake and pin it, does it still delay?

LMAO!

<hijack>If this makes you feel any better, It's 98 degrees here in Texas, and the shop has been averaging another 10 degrees on top of that... running the torches, welder, etc. makes it REALLLLY hot. Man, what I wouldn't give for some 70 degree weather right now. </hijack>

You all are just plain sick......and to answer your question ChevyMan......thanks Rick for giving me a "helping and smelly hand".

This delay thing is just what it is. I mean it doesn't like stall or anything, but I will get used to it. To be honest, with gas at $4 a gallon, I may just live with it. I think at this point in life I would rather get more MPG then horsepower. But it would have been really nice if they had given us an option to choose what mode we want.....horsepower or MPG. But that would have been way too smart and intelligent for someone to come up with. Also, with the new 10 yr, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.....this is yet another reason they did it I am sure....less strain....less chance of failure.

Now, can i go back to taking a crap again......Rick....hurry up, I need ya....

That's me... just call me in when you have crap to deal with. I call it Seagull Management (or, swoop and poop). You know, the manager that flies in, craps all over the place, then flies back out again.

Mud is fun, but only when its sunny and warm (not hot) out!! Haha, If you ever come to Prudhoe Bay, you will wish you could go out in the tundra and tear it up. But be careful, you may get life in prison for it. Hahaha, freakin enviro nazis. They think there is soooo much wildlife up here....little do they know it is a wasteland (a desert by deffinition), and flat for as far as the eye can see with NO trees anywhere. Dang it, why am I here again???? Arghhhh, cmon Rick. You know you need some one to wash all the rigs down there for like 35 dollars an hour...hehehehehe

Hmmmmmmm. Does raw sewer by chance bother you ChevyMan? Yeah, I feel ya. It's like that on the ocean too. There's only ONE place left to 4x4 on the SAND, and don't know how much longer that will be. But you can't go on a sand dune.....because....you know......SAND is sooooooooooooooooooooo hard to come by on the Ocean. It's ridiculous. I went for it anyway, someone saw me and complained, sheriff pulled me over and asked if it was me. Figured the dumd act was the way to go, so I said yes. He appreciated my being honest and let me go with a warning. I asked him WHY I could'nt drive up one of the millions of sand dunes (another word for it is a pile of sand the wind blew into one area more then another) and he said because they stop erosion......WHATEVER!!!!! One could little thunderstorm, and ALL THE DUNES ARE GONE, but my truck driving up one is gonna destroy the world...

well... you can thank our radical left-wing supporters for that crap. ;)

I DO recommend that people join coalitions like Tread Lightly and the UFWDA though, as they help support our cause and keep places open.

Yep yep. It is BS for sure. But at this point there is no turning back. There is no doubt in my mind that 4x4ing is just about over. So live it up while you can where you can. Try to keep what we still have left open!!
