does anyone know if the Carrier only(4.10gears not using them) and the  axles out of a 1990 YJ will fit in a 1997 TJ.   i searched quadratec and 4wd hardware to compare part numbers and years but they both say something differant.....

             thanks

97crawler,

Yes you can interchange the carriers for the Dana 35, and the axles should be the same as well. Of course its really not worth dumping a dime into a Dana 35 unless your Jeep is bone stock and isn't used for much off-roading. But you can in fact use what you have.

Cheers,
Yoda

i'd just spent the little extra money and make it a super 35. I just installed one on a TJ for a buddy and it works awesome! it's 30 spline chromoly's with the added touch of the ARB locker. and Superior gears4.56. don't nickel and dime yourself save up and get the good stuff. do it right the first time!

89YJ MOPAR MPFI. ATLAS 4SP 10.43:1. 9" w/ detroit and chromes. D44 STOCK. 38" TSL'S stretched 10" up front and 6 in the rear. hope it wheels good??

Good points - the Super 35 is indeed a good axle setup, but arguably, you can swap in a Dana 44 (well built) for about the same money. Kind of 6 in on, 1/2 dozen in the other.
