My wife came complete with a Jeep TJ. The only complaint (about the Jeep that is) is that it does not like water. She has had several instances where the Jeep would not start after being parked outside in the rain. Sometimes it would take a couple of days for it to be able to start again. Even worse, when washing it in one of those 'touchless' car washes it often stalls. She has had to suffer the embarrasment of being pushed out of the carwash in front of a long line of disgruntled motorists more than once. To me this seems like an electrical/electronic problem stemming from some sort of water leakage. The brilliant Jeep mechanics were unable to find the problem (I believe on more than one occasion). I'm ready to start pulling things apart myself but I'm wondering if first of all anyone has had similar experiences and is aware of a simple solution.
Any help is appreciated. Thx. |

Does the starter even crank? Or do all electronics go dead?
I had a similar problem with my CJ. Half the time, it would take a crank or two for the starter to kick in, but when it rained, it would just spin-and-spin and never catch. I replaced the starter and all is kosher.

It does crank so it does sound like a similar problem. Thanks for the info.
