i have a 90 wrangler with a four popper which i dumped too much money into already but i can't sell it...it's my baby. i have done extensive work to the motor thus far and i can't seem to get rid of that damn ticking noise. i have done everything from valve job to timing change replacement. i'm worried that the motor will not last another summer. if you know of anything about this problem please e-mail me. i've just about gave up and looking into a newer 4.0l swap. i know i need ecu, ax-15 tranny, but what else do i really need to make the swap.

I have a 98' TJ with a I-6 4.0L and I also have that ticking noise! I also have friends with jeeps and they also have it! I think it's a Jeep thing ( Maybe someday we will understand! )

I have a 98 wrangler and she was making a tic tic sound too. I thought i needed to change the oil or something. I took it to a repair place and they thought it was the U-joints, but after ripping the wheels apart and finding out that i had bad brakes, we descovered that the transfer case was bad, so 700 bucks later and a used transfer case with only 15000 miles on it. She is quiet as can be..well for a jeep anyways ------------ martin at 4/16/2002 10:43:40 PM
