oops...

I have a 94 Grand Cherokee with a V8. It runs fine when cold and continues to run flawless until I shut down for about a half hour to an hour... On subsequent start, the engine barely idles if at all. Seems to be lean of fuel... I change fuel filter, checked fuel pressure, all ok. My guess is when the coil gets heat soaked from sitting with hot engine it malfunctions or fuel becomes vaporlocked after sitting with hot engine...

If I let open the hood after shutting down and let it sit that way, the problem does not occur.

I compendsated for the problem by adjusting the throttle position at idle on the throttle body, but it is well beyond specs (according to father in-laws analyzer computer). No codes.

thanks...i hope someone can help...

Put your car in N and then try to start it. Works on mine

You should have your transmission fluid levels checked even if it looks ok from the dipstick.

i have the same problem with mine. my personal mechanic said it was my aftermarket intake that was gunking up the throttle body but i disagreed. with my intake being checked adn cleaned regularly my vehicle will still turn off on me. i can be driving down the road and it will all fo a sudden shut off for no reason. when i go to restart it it will turn over then turn off immediately unless i apply throttle. as soon as i stop applying throttle it will turn right back off. if u figured out what was wrong with yours help or if anyone knows what is happening please help

Mine did the same thing today. It has been doing it for quite sometime off and on. I was thinking that it was the fuel line or fuel filter but now that you suggest it might be the throttle or the throttle body it makes since. Only other suggestion I have is it could be the car getting vaporlocked for some reason. I will check my throttle and get back with you.
