I recently put an old man emu 2" lift on my TJ wrangler. I am now considering new tires and wheels but am undecided on which to get. I will be going to school next year, Its about a 6 hour trip both ways so the tires have to be road friendly( kinda road friendly). I realy like the Micky Thompson baja claw radials but I havent heard much about their durability on the road. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks guys. Oh and its a 99 wrangler sahara black with a tan hard top running 31" Bfg A/ts right now matt

I do not advise you to run the MT's you will not be happy with their road wear. IF you plan to go with a tire that expensive and aggressive, you might as well just run a Super Swamper SSR. they are very aggressive and last on the road as long as you at least rotate them about every 3000 miles. If this is not what you want you can never go wrong staying with a BFG A/T or M/T. Those are great tires;.

do you *need* new tires, or just want them? if you actually need new tires, the type of use they're going to see will decide for you. if you're simply looking for the "looks" that a dedicated off-road tire provides (which tends to scream "i have a small penis", by the way), that's another game altogether.

bfg A/T tires are not bad all-around tires, especially if you have snow where you are. between airing down, smart diff/gearing choices, and not driving like an a$$hole, you can accomplish a great deal with what you have already. and they're very very road friendly.

Check out the ProComp A/T. They have large voids for an All Terrain tire yet are much quieter than a more aggressive "mudder". They also have a 50,0000 mileage warranty. If you get this email in time, check out "4wheelparts.com". Procomp is having a "buy 3 get one free" sale that runs till the end of June/03. For you if you have stock 7" or even 8" wheels, get a 31x10.50. With a Wrangler you might even get 32's on it. Can't beat 'em for the price for all around use. I just bought 5 for the price of 4 for my Cherokee. Super deal. Check it out.
