| I have a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo with the all-time 4 wheel drive. After driving any length of time on the highway at highway speeds the vehicle will pop and surge in the front end. It happens when I've slowed down and need to cut the wheel. If I get off the interstate and need to pull into a parking space, upon cutting the wheel it almost seems that the front end is fighting to turn as it pops and lurches its way into the spot. After some time away from highway driving the problem disappears. What should I do? What do I tell a mechanic the problem is? Thanks. |

The problem lies with your transfer cases "viscous Coupler"--- It will need to be replaced, with parts and labor tottaling approximatly 1100 dollars. I would do it ASAP, because if you dont, the front end will be severely damaged, causing more dollars to be spent. Questions? email me.

| i have the same problem with my lerado and limited.i think the reason why it does that is either because the gear box doesnt allow the wheels to go as far as the drivers wants to turn it,in other words steering radious on the stock gear box binds a little.or the tires ,and or axle is rubbing on something as you turn.Mine uaualy does that as i turn out of parking spots and is worse in 4 wheel drive |

Try not driving on the highway in "all-time 4 wheel drive". It puts unnecessary wear and tear on the components, and realy kills your gas milage. You should try reading the owners manual, it will give you some good do's and don'ts about the different modes of 4 wheel drive.
