Anyone been stranded in 97+ Jeep Cherokee because of electrical problems? The fuse blew on all my interior components (gauges, speedometer, dome lights, etc) in 97 Cherokee in middle of desert in Summer. The dealer could NOT find source of problem. Some Cherokees are known for "electrical problems" (see Consumer Reports large survey reports), and now I'm worried that other issues will pop up leaving me stranded where no one will tow me out for under 1K (I go in middle of no where on terribly rocky/sandy "roads", 40+ miles from a town). No use having an off highway vehicle if you are afraid to use it. Thanks! Al

I have a Jeep Cherokee 1990. I had some problems with the electrical, I changed everything, still would not start. Come to find out, the alarm system was the problem. had a guy take it off, everthing so far is good. ------------ Al at 8/17/2003 9:38:27 AM

I have a 92 Cherokee and had just about the same problem. One of my fuses blew and then a bunch more did. I had no interior lights, power doors or radio. I ended up having to have my entire electrical system replaced. There were a few shorts and whoever owned it before me had loose wires not connected to anything all over the place. So, u might wanna test for shorts under the dash, then have a mechanic do the same. Good luck. ------------ Al at 8/17/2003 9:38:27 AM

I have a 98 JGC and was hooking the lighting to my boat up to it. Somehow (probably hooking up the wiring worng) I blew a handfull of fuses. I then replaced all of them, but no longer have the right side of my stereo area working. Can't eject CD, Tapes, speakers are always faded to right, and I can't fix!!!! Electrical nightmare

I don't have any answers or solutions to this, just the exact same problem. Last fall several of my gauges went and then everything went. I have replaced quite a bit but I am still without overdrive, a/c, intermitent wipers, and my reverse lights. Several mechanics have looked at it and all with different expensive solutions. My next step to try which was suggested to me is to replace the ignition curcuit relay as this may have burnt out, we will see.. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciatted.
