I have a 1994 Laredo and I am having a couple issues. First, I just replaced the exhaust system front to back with Borla Headers and a Borla cat-back exhaust (sounds sweet!). I think the mechanic might have something wrong. Sometimes, when driving in the city, it sounds like the exhaust is rattling towards the back but I can not find anything. Any ideas?? Second, when it has been running for a while, if I stop at a light or a stop sign, I hear a rattling that sounds like it's coming from either right under the driver's feet or up in the engine compartment. This started about a week before the new exhaust and a couple weeks after I attempted putting the new Borla headers on myself (not an easy job if you don't have the right tools.) Lastly, there is a humming noise coming from the rear end. gets worse as I increase speed. Is it time for a new rear end?
thanks everyone |

*Update* - I kinda found the noise from the front....I know what's making the noise (the grill vibrating of all things) but I have to figure out why and what's making it vibrate. Any ideas??

I had a similar problem when I had a new cat back system and a slightly larger pipe installed. The clearance around the rear axle and gas tank is limited and if the pipe is not bent correctly, the tork from the engine will push the pipe into the tank. My rattle occured around 60mph every time. once the plate protecting the gas tank was modified the noise was gone. Hope this helps!
