we have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Its a quadra-drive 4WD. We had the 60,000 mile service done the other day and ever since we have noticed a TERRIBLE grindy noise when turning the steering wheel way over (like if you drove in a circle or U-turn). Took it back to the mechanic and they couldn't hear it.. however, I have noticed you don't hear it on warmer days and of course that was one.

Anybody out there have in ideas? (We bought the vechicle in Sept used.) -M

Hey, Still have this problem and it doesn't have anything to do with temperature. It even makes the noise just turning into driveways and like (90 degree turns). Any ideas? (makes the noise turning in either direction)

Sounds like same problem here. Actually feel the grinding up through the steering wheel at very slow (parking lot speed) turns. Mechanics said their guess was the quadra trac system. I don't think so. Too much vibration up through the steering wheel and also no vibration through the shift levers. Have found TSB #965 issued Dec 00. Will check this out. I used to think it had to do with temperature also. ------------ twurtleturtle at 2/11/2004 11:13:30 AM
