I am trying to upgrade my 2.5L Fuel injected engine. Does anyone know how much power is possible. I was thinking exhaust, air intake, and possible interior engine mods. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Bore 30 over, lifters, the whole nine yards. Is this even worth it or is the power gain going to be minimal for the money? Any help would be greatly appreciated? Thanks!!!

Hello Steve,

What year is your vehicle? Simply by installing an Avenger Supercharger you can increase to 180-190 hp at half the cost of an engine swap.

Hi, I have a 94 yj with the 2.5l and it is making close to 185-200hp i have done the following to modify it tho so far as of now nothing TO intense i haven't torn this engine down yet.

first MSD 6AL ignition with a Accel coil and MSD's own wires (get the red ones the blue msd wires are not sheilded meaning no more radio and cb) that whole ignition setup from summit racing it helped my fuel and power and now it has a nice clean fast rev,

Next with the increased spark i went to the bosch plat 4 plug they do a nice job,

The air box restrictors are true also there is two in a wrangler i am not sure about the cherokees tho i had one in the front of the box and the back ALSO i put in a K&N filter charger works great i noticed the change in those things to.

Then i got the flex-a-lite electric fan conversion kit you take out your old fan freeing up 10-20 hp and the cooling is amazaing from the eletric fan and it doesn't kill the eltrical in the car i have a 90 amp alt. and the only thing i have to run is fans and dash lights well maybe a stero and a amp...and it also can be set to keep running till my engine and radiator is cooled off even after your like away from the car keys out completly automated it is kinda a neat trick.(might wanna make sure you have a good battery tho it could be bad if not mine kicks on 1-4 times after the car is off) i have a sears gold 750 cca batt brand new and it is fine

And the latest thing i have done to mine is put in a new larger high flow radiator and a high flow thermostat the radiator is supposed to be 40% higher flow i think it works great so far so good (remember the cooler it is the more power that 4cyl will make)

Last thing is i have a pace setter preditor exhaust it was on the jeep when i got it i was leaning more torg borla but this claim 30hp gain and it has a nice sound to it also the longer you have it the louder it gets from the fiberglass in the glass pack muffler melting away i recently went on a 15 hr straigh trip and it has gotten louder since that from the heat...

I plan to try the throttle spacer even tho i hear alot that it doesn't do anything and it is a gimick but i have heard from some people die hard fans of them there 30 bucks why not try it when i do i will write agian and let you know how it goes On another note check your engine mounts and tranny mounts i have no idea if there even remotly alike but mine were horrible and changing them made the drive terrain not have to twist itself to move making it quicked tighter take off.

It is a new beast since the time i started working on the proformance end of it i have a freind building up a 2.5L xj 2wd 5spd for street so i will give you his input when he is done email me if you have any questions. Brock1949@yahoo.com

try swapping out the stock 4.10 gear for a 4.56 .... yes you will lose top end and some gas but you will be able to tell the difference... exuast will help a little and the air intake is helpful as well, but if you're gonna go inside your engine to do alot of changes its not worth it
