DFREED - with today's modern drive trains, it's difficult to diagnose problems like this. Take your Jeep to your local Autozone, Checker or other national parts store, as they will put the computer on yoru truck for free, and at least tell you what the trouble codes are.
Write down the trouble codes and tell us what they are. We can probably tell you what to do to fix the problem at that point.

| Scan the code with an obd II diagnostic, much of the time it will diagnose as a random misfire, coil and plugs to be replaced. However, the problem much of the time is the ECU computer unit. It was positioned in a terrible spot, top right side of the firewall where dripping water falls right on top of it when the hood is closed or open, and right into open circuits. Used ecu's run around $180 on ebay, and rebuilt units run around $200. Get the obdII scan reading first. |

| Could this be the same problem that I'm having? I have a 2000 cherokee check engine light comes on code says miss in #1 and sometimes #3. Nobody seems to know how to cure the problem! |
