| wow your kinda wanting a miricle idk if the v8 would fit. the im told the 4.0 will swap no prob but idk about the v8. if i were to swap id opt for gm 327 350 some were along those lines have you tried advance adapters they have alot of conversions for jeeps. you couldnt use your tranny unless you did tons of things to modify due to the jeep has a d300 tcase the best in jeeps. the grand cherokees tranny and tcase combo wouldnt work either due to the differential on different sides 86 and older pass side diff. and 87 and up jeeps driver side diff |

I know dozens (if not more) people that put V8's into Jeeps CJ's all of the time. There's plenty of room in there for a V8, especially an older one that doesn't have gobs of emissions crap all over it.
For that matter - a V8 was an option from the factory with CJ7's and CJ8's.

If you are pulling it out of a 97 Grand Cherokee then it is most likely a 318. There was a special edition Grand Cherokee that had the 360. It is easy to identify - it has louvers on the hood. If you dont have that edition then you have a 318 on your hands.
Not a bad engine at all. Not great but definitly usable. |

| The 318 has one of the sweetest exhaust notes I've ever heard! |

| I agree. I used to live near a guy in Texas who had a bone stock Dodge Ram with a 318 and it sounded awesome. |
