| Has anyone installed a Weber carb on a 258? After installing mine and turing over the engine, I encountered a whistling noise. The noise persists from idle through all revs. As my carburetor knowledge is limited, I would greatly appreciate any help. |

I to have a weber carb on my 258 i-6 I don`t have an ansewer for you but a question to you is my 80 jeep wines and i can`t fegure it out do you have any ideas?
Last year I installed a Weber carb on my 258 I-6. Does anyone know of an adapter for the use of the original air cleaner assembly? I would appreciate a ny information regarding this matter. |

| Did you notice any related whining sounds before the carb was installed?
Check to see if all the vacuum hoses are connected and if the air cleaner is sitting flush on the carb.
After I installed mine I had air leaks around the base flange which caused a whistling sound. I solved the problem by recutting the carb/manifold gasket so that it would seat flatter. As an extra precaution I ran a bead of copper silicone around the outside of the base flange. Occasionally when I start on a cold morning I can still hear a faint whistling but it goes away once the engine warms up.
