I have a 2.5 4 cylinder engine. When I pull the number three plug wire off the engine runs the same. At idle it runs rough. Could use some help I am kinda stumped here. Thanks

number 3 is a dead cylinder. this being that u probably need either a plug or a wire that simple.

well, there could be another issue here at play. Since it's an 18-year old vehicle, there is a possibility that you could have a dead lifter (hydraulically speaking of course), or a lobe on a cam that is shot too.

In the end, it may not just be electrical, it could be mechanical.

Regardless, I would first check to make sure you're getting spark at that cylinder.
