i went to install a stereo in my 93 jeep grand cherokee. being a dumb ass i didnt disconnect the battery cause ive heard about other people having problems after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, anyways.... the yellow wire, i think its a 12vbatt? tapped some metal and pop.... my dome lights went off, and when the doors open there is a clicking sound cominng from under the dash on the passenger side, when the doors shut it stops, unless the key is in the run pos, or the vehicle is turned on. the stereo works fine, everything else seemed to be working ok.
we went to run a couple errands and when we got home and parked, turned off the car and the clicking wouldnt stop even with the doors closed.
I disconnected the batteryand waited 60 seconds... plugged it back in and then the headlights are flashing and they wont stop, and the clicking noise continues...... agh.... i know nothing about the electrical in these jeeps, i just bought the vehicle, first jeep ever owned....
please any help would be great!!!!!! my wife drives this to work and back everyday, and shes prego, i dont want anymore stupid things happenening while she is driving |

| yes the yellow is the constant radio battery source keeps time and presets. do you see any wires that are melted due to a hot wire grounding they melt and smell nasty. normaly when you ground a hot wire like radio it pops the fuse. and when you said dome lights went off i think the radio and dome are on the same fuse. the head lights flashing? hmm i can only think of two things mabye when you grounded the hot wire it melted and is givin a wire like the lights that are on a switch power but that wouldnt cause flashing does the jeep have a car alarm? i think some car alarms lights flash |

its the alarm that was making it flash, the next morning i woke up and plugged the batt back in, the lights started flashing.... i clicked lock and then unlock on remote and they stopped.... anyways... the clicking and some other issues still remain.... so i looked into it and located the relay that is the issue... i pulled it and the clicking stopped... obvious that the relay is screwed by the looks of it (looks fried).... anyways... so when i took that out the remote stopped working and when i put it back in it still doesnt work.... so i searched how to bypass the stock alarm (not sure if i can explain on this forum but its splicing a wire and grounding) it did the trick for that..... so basically a BUNCH of stuff in my jeep isnt working :( i dont know to much about this.... and im majorly kciking myself in the ass for not unplugging the battery for a stereo transplant :( :(....
now ive also done some research and read alot of other peoples very similar problems..... and changing the relay didnt fix everything, and for some none....... i cannot afford a dealship to fix this... any help and advice would be awesome.... i can do it with help.....
this thing is driving me nuts....
everything was working perfectly before the yellow wire tapped metal.... now all is screwed.... wtf?! :( |

| i dont take the cable off the batt so i can test the wires to so whats hot and which hot is the acc and batt. all it does for me when i ground the hot wire is blow a fuse. so what else isnt working. check the fuses. also in the engine compartment there is a fuse block at least there is in a tj 97 and up jeep wrangler. did you buy a haynes manual or chiltons they tell if you have two fuse blocks also have trouble shooting |

| I assume you checked ALL fuses and relays right? If not, check em all. Get a tester, you can get one with most fuse kits nowadays. Even ones that look ok, can be burned. Just do one at a time. You may have a secondary fuse box under the hood too. Also, remove the stereo again and see if you have the same problems with the raido removed. |
